4th Richard Rorty Society Meeting in Buenos Aires

From December 3 to 5, 2025, the 4th Richard Rorty Society Meeting was held under the theme “Philosophy, Democracy and Conversation” at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires.
The event was organized by the Richard Rorty Society and the Instituto de Filosofía “Alejandro Korn” (UBA), with support from the Department of Philosophy (FFyL-UBA) and the Society for the Advancement of American Pragmatism (SAAP). Federico Penelas, a CONTINGENCIA member, chaired the organizing committee in his role as RRS president.

- Sofía Forte: “Values and Democracy: an inextricable relationship”
- Benjamín Troncoso: “Vocabularies for pastmaking: for a notion of narrative in Rorty”
The meeting featured plenary lectures by Susana de Castro (UFRJ), Susan Dieleman (University of Lethbridge), and Michael Williams (Johns Hopkins University), along with participation from scholars across Latin America, Europe, and North America.
